Two notes in different keys Crossing at the same time, And no one can cure your disease, The dissonance that plagues your mind. It's a violent noise, The resounding crash as the night claims us both. In a city I'm confound By all the cars and streets and sounds That sing a symphony of only wrong notes. Can you hear me loud and clearly? The beat of train station drums are filling up your lungs, And you're gasping for cleaner air. Drowning in your own diseased imagination Where I refuse to disappear. It's a violent noise, The resounding crash as the night claims us both. In a city I'm confound By all the cars and streets and sounds That sing a symphony of only wrong notes. Can you hear me loud and clearly?

Razorback 04:42
Eyes that change colors in the light, A glazed over green or blue. Lifeless eyes, I'd waste away with you. A heart that beats an ever steady rhythm. An icy pulse that hardly reaches through. Oh cold heart, I'd keep it warm for you. Distance, distance keeps you safe, And I don't wanna scare you away. You're laughing 'cause it's funny How you're fooling everybody, but me. Your lips are curving at the ends. You walk like you've got all kinds of time. You love like you've got razors running down your spine. You run your fingers through your hair. The ring you wear, it's heavy now. 'Cause it makes us the same, and that weighs you down. I'm afraid that weight is gonna make you drown. I'm looking out for you, but I don't think you wanna be found Out. Distance, distance keeps you safe, And I don't wanna scare you away. You're laughing 'cause it's funny How you're fooling everybody, but me. There's a loneliness you carry inside your heart, You gave it all to me to keep from tearing you apart. 'Cause I'm here and I'm hopeless and I'm holding out for you, And I have to let you go, I've got everything to lose. So do what you do, what you do best. Chase the only one you know who couldn't care less, And spend your life thinking you have to earn somebody's love. Convince yourself you're happy, I hope that it's enough. She's lying to herself. Distance, distance keeps you safe, And I don't wanna scare you away. You're laughing 'cause it's funny How you're fooling everybody, but me. I cut my hands on the sharp edge cracks When I run my fingers down your razorback. I'll bleed the most for something that I can't have When I run my fingers down your razorback.

Sleep Easy 03:17
Lights project out of my eyes from a disjointed machine. Oh but I've got the perfect image, I'm just searching for a screen. And darling, you're the most beautiful Blank surface I've ever seen. My heart breaks for you and by you, I can only sympathize. And the nights you've spent with others left you Something you don't recognize. And nothing shouts uncertainty Like silence in reply. Sleep easy, Sleep easy tonight. Disguised insecurity has trapped you safe inside. Sleep easy, Sleep easy tonight. And just because it's painless doesn't make it right. You don't have to suffer through this, I don't think your dreams are useless. You don't have to suffer. Sleep easy, Sleep easy tonight. Disguised insecurity has trapped you safe inside. Sleep easy, Sleep easy tonight. And just because it's painless doesn't make it right.

Most Folks 04:58
I won't pretend that I've got this figured out. I'm still counting on my fingers, and staring into space, And talking to myself aloud. And we've been holding out, yeah we've been holding on, We've been going on for days. As for me and my attention span, we're restless 'cause we've long outgrown this place. Most folks wanna stay at home, And keep up with their TV shows. Most folks stay the same their whole life. But if we work 9-5 everyday, And we panic when our hair turns gray. Though there's a heartbeat down deep inside, I can hardly feel that I'm alive. Go to bed you lush and forget all of the facts, Wake up early Sunday morning and go take it all back. We're self-professed sinners and we're coming out to play. Just don't forget to pray all of your vices far away. Most folks wanna stay at home, And keep up with their TV shows. Most folks stay the same their whole life. But if we work 9-5 everyday, And we panic when our hair turns gray. Though there's a heartbeat down deep inside, I can hardly feel that I'm alive. There's gotta be something more than just living to survive In a place where people are digging holes where their dreams will go to die. We perpetuate a cycle 'cause we think that there's a reason To spend our lives stationary people, so we can enjoy our weekends. Most folks wanna stay at home, Well most folks will end up alone. Though there's a heartbeat down deep inside, I can hardly feel that I'm alive.

about

The Persistence of Vision is a theory of how an afterimage persists in the retina of the eyes for a fraction of a second after the visual source has been removed. During film projection, light is directed out from behind a rotating shutter that causes brief intervals of darkness as each frame is positioned to be projected. This theory was proposed as an explanation for why the viewer does not notice this interruption.

The Persistence of Vision EP was designed to seamlessly enchant listeners under a spell of hypnotic bass vibrations and haunting vocal textures that set the foreground for a lyrically introspective style. During the summer of 2014, this EP was written, recorded, mixed, and produced by Rachel Mallin in her hometown of Kansas City, MO. On this four-track EP, listener's are immersed into Rachel's writing and production as each song musically transcends the discord of human emotion into a harmonious wave of expression.
